Bearings-only tracking with sea trial sonar data from multiple asynchronous sonobuoys

چکیده

In this report, we address practical issues associated with tracking a single non-manoeuvering target using bearings-only data. In particular, we investigate the performance of various tracking algorithms and techniques by processing real trial data obtained from a field of sonobuoys. Difficulties using conventional modelling assumptions are illustrated. The primary aim is to understand the performance of existing tracking algorithms when applied to sea trial sonar data and to illustrate potential performance improvements with algorithm enhancements.
